Huaraz based teacher Juan Raúl Cadillo winner in Ibero-American contest

A new and great achievement for teacher Juan Raúl Cadillo León, who in December last year was selected  among the 50 best teachers in the world in the “The Global Teacher Prize” contest.  Juan Raúl Cadillo León was selected out of more than 20,000 candidates from 179 different countries and is still in the running for a million dollars. Teacher Juan Raúl is an early bird as at 8 o’clock in the morning he teaches at Jesus de Nazaret school at primary level, in Huaraz. Previously, the teacher was recognised with an honorable mention by the Telefónica Foundation, winning the  “Teacher who leaves a mark” award,  in addition to winning the International Contest EducaRed 2010.

This time, the Organisation of Ibero-American States (OEI) and the Institute of Education, Technology and Learning (INTEA) assembled a competition with the aim of strengthening school as a cultural reference in contemporary society and teacher Juan Raúl Cadillo was nominated and won. On his Facebook page he stated: ¨Challenge fulfilled – Ibero-American winner in Good Practices on the Incorporation of Technologies for the Organization of Schools or in Educational Innovation Programs¨.

If Juan Raúl Cadillo would win The Global Teacher Prize (to be announced on March 19th 2017 at the World Education and Skills Forum in Dubai), he will receive one million dollars in prize money. On December the 26th, he was also offered the City Medal of Huaraz by Mayor Alberto Espinoza Cerrón and last month he received the City Medal of Lima (picture) for being one of the 50 best teachers of the world.
