GPS signal indicates Jesse left Huaraz and went to Caraz for Santa Cruz area according to police

N o breakthrough yet but some advances after weeks of silence. During his weekly meeting with the press, the head of the Police Division of Huaraz, José Zavala Chumbiauca shared some important updates on the case of the disappearance of Jesse Galganov. Coronel Zavala stated that it has been verified that the Canadian stayed at the Casa Blanca Hotel in Huaraz and then left for the city of Caraz for trekking, most likely the Santa Cruz Trek. ¨We have managed to collect video footage in which Galganov is seen leaving the Casa Blanca Hotel and heading towards the bus stop that connects with Caraz.¨ The head of the Police Division of Huaraz also informed that a police helicopter is used to fly over the area of the Santa Cruz Trek, as well as drones.

According to the head of the Huaraz police force, the use of geolocation is key as Galganov’s cell phone´s GPS signal sent its latest signals from the Santa Cruz area. The search is now focused on this area. Jesse Galganov signed the check-in book of hotel Casa Blanca and thus did not stay at Kame House Backpackers as previously was assumed. The police furthermore shared to believe that the 22-year-old did not stay in any hotel or hostel in Caraz but would have gone trekking straight away. ¨Apple has shared images of Jesse´s cell phone which indicate a certain direction he went to and all the information we have obtained, also thanks to the help of Jesse´s family members, confirms he went towards Caraz. At the request of Jesse´s parents and his embassy, 50 high mountain guides have restarted the search for the Canadian.¨ The mountain guides who are assisted by local civilians are searching in four touristic directions; Pomabamba-Cedros, Hualcayán, Santa Cruz and the Cañón del Pato towards Caraz.

Too bad the people at Kame House got things confused which I’m sure hindered the progress of the search for Jesse. I saw a post last week from a young girl who was supposed to stay at Kame House around the same time as Jesse but there was no one at the desk when she went to check in so she had to stay elsewhere. I’m assuming this is what happened to Jesse. Thank you for the updates.
