Another foreign tourist goes missing in Peru

E cuadorian – Spanish national Nathaly Salazar Ayala is another foreign tourist in Peru who has gone missing. The 28-year-old intended to reach the town of Maras – Moray but never arrived. The case shows some similarities to the one of Jesse Galganov, a backpacker from Montreal, Canada who strangely went missing in the Huaraz area. Galganov too has still not been found.

The local police are on high alert to locate the Hispanic-Ecuadorian backpacker, who arrived from Spain to get to know the archaeological attractions of Cusco. The woman has been missing since the beginning of this month without anyone giving any ideas about her whereabouts.

On the morning of January 2nd, the young backpacker left her hostel Pariwana located in the city centre of Cusco to head for the archaeological complex of Moray in the district of Maras in the province of Urubamba. From that day there is no trace of her. Nathaly’s case has gone viral on social networks, where her family from Spain denounced her strange disappearance, generating national and international exposure. The family claims that her bank accounts are intact and that the woman has not connected to social networks or Whatsapp since the second of this month.

The security cameras of Pariwana captured the young traveller leaving the establishment while wearing a pink coat, black pants and a small bag, in the middle of a cloudy day.  The last contact was with the receptionist of the lodging place, to whom she asked how to get to Moray. The administrator has indicated to have giving some references and the young woman left, without saying a word, so affirmed Colonel PNP Manuel Mar, head of the Cusco Police Region.

In the last hours, the police arranged a special team to search in the high mountain areas near Moray. On the other hand it was confirmed that Nathaly Salazar Ayala did not register her entrance to the archaeological complex of Moray. It is suspected that she tried to reach the place using alternate routes, maybe not recommendable, where she would have got lost.

On Thursday morning, the parents of Nathaly Sara Salazar Ayala arrived in the Imperial City of the Incas in order to collaborate with the local authorities in search for her daughter. Additionally, a police team of the Spanish Kidnapping and Homicide Unit has arrived to Cusco to join the search efforts.
