Huaraz-born trail runner gets respectable mention in AusTRAILia Runner Magazine

T rail runner Hernán Henostroza Gamarra from Huaraz has now also caught the attention of the international press as he appeared in a small article in the October-November edition of Austrailia’s only trail-running magazine, AusTRAILia Runner Magazine. The magazine is the voice of Australian trail-running, and is loaded with ‘real’ experience and connects readers with fellow runners and the world’s stunning landscapes. The glossy is also available in New Zealand under the name of Kiwi Trail Runner Magazine is and is brought by Langhills Publishing.

The youngster from Huaraz is mentioned on page 47 of the Australian version of the glossy and is described as a rising star on the South American trail running scene, currently representing Team Salomon and Team Petzl in Peru. The lad is labeled as a passionate man and the runner´s last wins such as the Marcahuasi Ultra Trail, the 2016 edition of the Desafio Huarochiri and 2016 Petzl Trail Plus are mentioned in the first paragraph.

Hernán mentions Laguna Churup, la Quebrada de Quilcayhuanca, Chinanchocha, Laguna 69, Pisco and the mountains of Vallunaraju as some of his favourite trails around Huaraz. He furthermore suggests exploring the Huaraz area between April and November. The article also dedicates some space to the Ancash region and Huaraz area. Huaraz is described as a large town lying seven hours from Lima and known as the ´Switzerland of Peru´.

The trail runner furthermore states in the article that the beauty of the mountains, the energy they radiate their peace and loneliness continue to draw Henostroza. Through his eyes, every trail is special and unique in its beauty.
