Money or true animal love? ´Rightful owner´ of Wendy claims Steve-O stole his dog

P ercy Poma Loli, a 44-year-old businessman from Huaraz caught the attention of the national press claiming that his dog named “Candy” is the same one which was adopted by British stunt actor Stephen Gilchrist Glover, also known as Steve-O, who was in Huaraz last year.

According to the man, his pet was one year and three months old when it was stolen when he realised that the cult hero had it in his possession. Poma Loli showed the national press some family pictures of trips and pointed out that his dog was not street dog, but lived with him all the time. Poma Loli contacted Steve-O a couple of times on Facebook but didn’t get a reply. ¨What you have done is kidnap and take my dog, and it is worth knowing how you could leave the country with her. I am getting advised to denounce this act and to make it public¨, he stated. Days passed by and Poma Loli felt forced to ask for help from nationwide newspaper El Comercio. ¨Gentlemen of El Comercio, I request your support in order to recover my dog called ‘Candy’, taken by Mr. Steve-O, who in a supposed act of good faith has robbed and kidnapped my dog¨.

Strangely, Poma Loli claimed that his dog went missing in November. However, The Huaraz Telegraph found out that Steve-O and his friends visited Huaraz in the beginning of August 2017. This information was confirmed by Huaraz citizen Elina Koivula-Herrera, originally from Finland, who contacted Poma Loli and said to have coordinated Steve-O´s project during his stay in Huaraz. She informed: ¨Dog Wendy was found in the streets of Huaraz in the first week of August. Before that, she had been wandering for more than a month around the Parque del Periodista. In the first week of September the dog was taken to Lima and later to the USA. Your dog Candy is one year and three months old. The dog that Steve-O took was five years old, according to veterinarians in Huaraz and Los Angeles. I believe they are different dogs. Get your act together and start looking for yours. I hope you find her

Local chef Jean Pierre Urteaga also caused some headaches for Poma Loli. He published the following on his Facebook page: ¨After the false complaint that Steve-O stole his dog, Mr. Percy Poma Loli just blocked me! Panamericana TV just contacted me and we had an exclusive interview that will be released in the next few hours! The only thing this gentleman is looking for is his own economic benefit. I never wrote him any message, only I shared his publication questioning it publicly. He must have been scared because he has blocked me and therefore the publication has disappeared! You will be unmasked Percy Poma Loli. Do not take advantage of the situation. Wendy is a lot older than 1 year and a couple of months and even gave birth to puppies. She was even taken care of by my person in my own house and later I offered her puppies for adoption! Wendy always lived on the streets, always

In a recent video published by the stunt actor, ´Wendy´ is clearly seen underfed, hungry and totally dirty. Additionally, the dog was found in the centre of the city at a place where it seemed to sleep during the day, making it almost impossible that no other family members or friends of Poma Loli would have noticed the dog before.

Although some opinions of Facebook users are divided, the vast majority said not to believe the businessman from Huaraz. Roberth Alex H. states that Poma Loli simply wants money. Karen Maldonado Huapula thinks that Poma Loli is an ungrateful man who’s looking for Steve-O´s wallet or maybe five minutes of fame. Antony Dasilva Gutierrez stated that the Wendy has a much better life now. Jhonny Vargas said that both dogs shown in the pictures are not the same because their ears and neck are clearly different. Many others said to believe that the businessman from Huaraz was an opportunist looking for fame and fortune.
