Todd Galganov in tears during dramatic press conference; ¨where is my son¨?

J esse Galganov, the now 23-year-old backpacker from Montreal, Canada, has been missing for 180 days and sadly, so far there are neither clear signals nor leads to resolve the case. In the midst of despair and fighting back the tears, a powerless but mentally strong Todd Galganov held a press conference to announce to the world the indifference shown by the local authorities with the search for his missing son. Jesse´s father Todd has been in Peru since October the 17th last year and stated on multiple occasions that he will not leave the country until he finds what he is looking for.

The press conference was held at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Huaraz and was massively attended by the local press. Todd Galganov said that it is not possible that his son has simply vanished and that despite having spent searching for 180 days, no one is able to share details about the whereabouts of his son. Despite whishing all attendees of the press conference happy holidays for Easter, Galganov also warned the local tourism industry about the possible consequences of the unsolved case. ¨Someone must know something and if my son is not found any time soon, we cannot longer recommend Huaraz or the Callejón de Huaylas being a promising tourism destination¨.

There was also criticism for the National Park Huascarán. ¨There are no signs indicating the correct direction and the park guards are not at their posts all the time. At each camp there should be a ranger with medical supplies and a telephone. I’m going to work on that, but first I will need to find Jesse¨. Most importantly, Todd Galganov stated that tips will be considered confidentially and without contacting the police.  He also detailed: ¨The people here are incredible; however, local help in general has been pathetic at best. We have therefore asked for the help of the Peruvian police in Lima and we have hired the best search and rescue team in the world from Israel. However, we have been told that this case concerns foul play. You just cannot take a human life and discard it. No way! To all of you who live in the Ancash area and who know about my son, I will not leave. I’m getting stronger. Please show the world that you care. Show it to our family and give back our beautiful child, please. To the American and Canadian press, please send your reporters here. Understand that this is an important story. There has been a terrible act of foul play. He is Canadian and American like me and my daughter. Remember that this could be your son or daughter! Until God or the team shows me that our son Jesse has gone to heaven, I will continue my steadfast faith in God that he is alive. Now I shall pray to find him. It’s not over till it’s over¨.

As was announced earlier this year, there is a 100.000 soles reward for the tip that will lead to the finding of the young Canadian traveller. Earlier this month, so informed nationawide newspaper El Comercio, members of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Lima, who were conducting partially the investigations in the cities of Huaraz and Caraz during the first weeks of February said to presume that the tourist had most likely suffered an accident crossing the Huascarán mountain range while hiking the Santa Cruz Trek. ¨So far, no evidence has been found that confirms a possible homicide crime committed against Jesse Galganov. A report from the police indicates that while hiking, it´s not unlikely that Jesse could have suffered an accident and might have fallen into an abyss, since he did not know the place and did not have a guide¨, so informed the head of the Corporate Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Huaylas-Caraz, Raúl Godos Sedan.

As a strong supporter of the Clamen and Galganov families, I pray that they get the answers that they need and hopefully bring beautiful Jesse home. This is a nightmare of enormous proportions and his loving family needs answers and peace. Please broadcast this throughout the world and perhaps someone will have some answers. Chag Sameach to Todd, Alisa and Sammi. We are all joining hands and hearts tonight as we celebrate the first night of Passover! May this holiday bring you your miracle! 🙏🏼💙🙏🏼

Our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in Lima April 12-14. We need to pressure both Prime Minister Trudeau and your President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski to take some time to meet Mr. Todd Galganov. Both governments can lend their support to help us bring Jesse Galganov home.
Leaders are suppose to protect their citizens wherever they may be. It is time for both these leaders to show what leaders do in hard times.
